Alan is an Independent Restructuring Professional and board member, who has consistently achieved measurable results in difficult circumstances over more than 30 years, working with boards and management teams through challenging periods on large and complex restructurings, public and private, in the UK and internationally, involving £150m to £500m debt.

Alan is a highly experienced Non-Executive Director and interim executive, specialising in turnarounds, restructurings, and complex crisis situations. For >30 years, he has been introduced by stakeholders when there is a trust gap that requires bridging.

He combines a collaborative, consensus-driven approach with the ability to lead from the front when required. Alan brings strong commercial judgement and deep expertise in governance, transactions, and stakeholder management, alongside hands-on experience in the operational drivers of restructuring— including forecasting, liquidity management, and cost optimisation.

Alan has worked across a broad range of sectors, with particular depth in consumer financial services, publicly-funded infrastructure, legal services, logistics, healthcare & pharmaceuticals, IT, travel, mining & natural resources and manufacturing.

Throughout his career, he has delivered consistent, measurable outcomes in high-pressure environments. He has supported boards, investors, and management teams in roles including CRO, CEO, CFO, Non-Executive Director, and board adviser.

Since the onset of the Global Finance Crisis in 2007, Alan has led and advised on large, complex special situations across both public and private markets in the UK and internationally, spanning a wide range of transaction types.

He is the author of a practical guide to managing financial crises and restructurings: Guide to MANAGING FINANCIAL CRISES & RESTRUCTURINGS in the UK ; and in South Africa is a licensed Senior Business Rescue Practitioner.
